ECHOES OF THE BIG FOUR

Another Journey Back To The Days Of Steam

SO GOOD I COULDN'T RESIST IT

To date I had never seen this engine before, so on this occasion I could not resist taking one or two more photos of it. I don't ever remember seeing it again, so I'm really glad I took them when I did. 45154 Finished its career allocated to Speke Junction Shed, and was cut up by Drapers in Hull during 1964.

TINTERN ABBEY Castle Class

Rapidly accelerating through the London suburbs, No.5087 heads West with a Western Region Express.

AN OPPORTUNITY TO STRETCH HER LEGS

A Maunsell S15 gets the opportunity to blow away some cobwebs as she heads a Basingstoke semi-fast away from London through Wimbledon in 1960

RUNNING IN TURN

'Corfe Castle' fresh from overhaul has arrived at Reading with a stopping train from Swindon on a running in turn.

A CRACKING LITTLE ENGINE

Great little engines to work on and ready for anything, this Nine Elms U boat appeared on an up semi-fast from Basingstoke, an ideal task for this type of engine, although I am a little concerned over the lack of a white feather at the valves.

TOP SHED SHINE
The lovely sight of a Kings Cross Top Shed (34A) Streak, always a feast for the eyes. No.60021 has covered a few miles but was still the choice for the Heart Of Midlothian Express on this day in 1959
BUSY TIME OVER THE ASHPITS

'Yeovil' heads the queue over the ashpits, coming on shed at Nine Elms in 1961.
